Final Making Coffee In Skagway

I took my peer’s comments to heart and tried to incorporate as many suggestions as possible.

At least 2 peers suggested that the video would possibly keep more in line with the travel nurse theme if it ended with me going off to work. I re-recorded an ending segment where I do just that, and added it to “conclude the story” more in line with the travel nurse theme. I wore my beaded stethoscope around my neck for the shot, as I’ve featured it in multiple projects for this course.

Ebany wrote, “However, my biggest critique is that some of the clips were not horizontal, which made the video feel a bit disjointed at times. I would advise ensuring that all the clips are horizontal in the future, so that the video can flow more smoothly.” Our instructions throughout this course clearly dictated multiple times the need to record media horizontally. I reached out to Ebany to help me understand what she was referring to but didn’t hear back. 100% of my video was recorded horizontally. I made sure in Premiere Pro and on YouTube that my shots filled the screen.

Maranda suggested my video was longer than the allotted frame (i.e., “She may need to consider cutting some of her weaker video shots out to keep the video within the designated time length.”). The assignment’s instructions were to provide a 1-3 minute video. My draft video was just under 2 minutes, well under the 3 minute maximum length. I did cut out a couple of shots I considered weaker, however. I shortened a couple of the segments, notably where I am pouring water into the carafe, and the other when scooping coffee into the filter. My new, final video is 1:41.

My own improvements were to add a more deliberate, distinct transition between the Lynn Canal section of the video and the coffee section. The two segments now transitions more smoothly, hopefully moving the viewer into the new story line in a less abrupt, more meaningful, way.

I took out one of the text banners to allow for more to time pass–less busyness–to allow the reader more time to read the text. I also manipulated the saturation of color in the Lynn Canal video to try and draw out the blue water. I let the music come in at full volume in the beginning, to a drama, but then faded it out with a couple of key frames at the end.

Overall, I appreciated the constructive criticism and believe I gave my best effort in incorporating the suggestions. I can’t believe this is the last project!
