All the programs we worked with in this class were new to me. I have heard a lot about Photoshop, and considering the many celebrities that use it, and for what purpose, thought it must be easy. I was totally wrong about that—it was horrible.
It is fascinating that Photoshop can manipulate reality. In the future we will likely see a lot of manipulation in media with programs like it. I am glad to have had some experience with it to be a more discerning consumer.
I returned to Adobe Illustrator logo for this assignment. It was the second most difficult program for me, behind Photoshop. At the time of the assignment, I used the feedback from my peers to make enhancements on my draft logo. When you gave feedback on the final logo you mentioned trying something like adding clothing to the figure. I hadn’t thought of that and was intrigued to know if I had the skills now to do it.
Returning to the logo with a concrete suggestion was an opportunity to challenge myself to add the suggested clothing. I used oval shapes because I thought it added a 3D look to the clothing, and made the body look softer, with less rigid, straight lines. Gradient was difficult for me, so I practiced a lot using gradient in the clothing, again to give a more three dimensional look.
While I added gradient to the clothing, you mentioned the blue gradient in the original background made the logo seem lopsided. For the last change, I got rid of the gradient there and changed the background to a solid blue.
I’m conscious of how amateur my logo is, and although personally proud of it, I would not try to use it professionally. I can see myself using Audition and Illustrator Pro frequently. I would like to interview a nurse I work with now that has worked around the world and put something together featuring her fascinating life.
